Troubleshooting

The meter is stretched out and will not go back

Touch it — if you own it, that frees it and sends it home. It also puts itself right on its own: every step has a time limit, so an ignored menu, a silent web service or an avatar who walks off all end with the meter back where it started. A region restart also sends it home.

“The age service did not answer”

The meter could not reach the age service. It tries a second time, then gives up, tells you, and returns to normal rather than standing there stretched.

“The meter lost track of you”

You left the region, or moved out of range, between touching it and choosing. Stand on it and touch it again.

The menu appeared and then nothing happened

The dialog waits 30 seconds. Ignore it and the meter frees itself for the next person.

It went home to the wrong place

Home is wherever the meter was sitting the last time somebody touched it while it was idle. Put it where you want it, touch it once, and that becomes home.

It did not move at all

Some regions restrict how far an object may move itself. The meter tries the direct move first and falls back to a stepped one, but if the region blocks both it will measure without walking over to you.
